The Jewish community in Central Maryland is devoted to providing educational opportunities for its members. To this end, the grant program has been established to fund additional services within the Orthodox Jewish community. This grant is facilitated by a. Immerse, an interactive learning experience that encourages students to explore history, build personal connections and take action.
Through practical activities and primary sources, students can research topics such as immigration, Judaism, Baltimore and Holocaust education. Our programs are led by expert museum educators and dedicated volunteers. All programs are developed in accordance with Maryland's college and career preparation standards. Adults can participate in the annual Routes program, which offers 70 unique sessions during the community day of learning Judaism.
The Federation's Jewish Life & Learning (JLL) department provides thought leadership, educational resources and consultations that inspire new approaches to Jewish learning, participation and culture. Next Gen is the entry point for young adults to get involved in the Jewish community of Greater Washington. Students at local Jewish schools can explore their family roots and their connection to the larger history of the Jewish people, culminating in an individual piece of art. The children attend one of the six Jewish day schools supported by the Federation that offer educational excellence and provide children with a strong Jewish identity based on a solid foundation of Jewish learning and values.
Next Gen provides social connection, networking opportunities, leadership development, philanthropic promotion and a deepening of Jewish knowledge in order to ensure that the community values of one generation are passed on to the next. A talented educator and lifelong learner with years of experience teaching and supervising in Jewish day schools, congregational schools, Jewish camps, synagogues and adult education programs leads these programs. The performance highlights issues such as Jewish immigration, Americanization, history, neighborhoods and communities in Maryland and Baltimore. JLL's combined efforts support professional Jewish educators in the Greater Washington community and promote Jewish life and learning through Israeli participation, philanthropy, family activities and community involvement.
